MEET OUR CHAIRMAN
INTRODUCTION:
HISTORY OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT Ede Local Government as carved out of the defunct Ede Local Government in December 1996 by the late General Abacha administration. The headquarters is located at Oke Iresi, Ede. The name of the town is derived from the tree called Ede at Ede-Ile where the town was first founded. Alapo Tiemi otherwise known as Timi Agbale Olofa-Ina was commissioned by Alaafin Sango of the old Oyo Empire to protect the Ife wing of the empire against any invasion. The ancestor of the incumbent Timi of Ede, His Royal Highness Oba Tijani Oladokun Oyewusi Agbonran II, founded the present site of the town which is called the new Ede.
